- Gabor's master for DJ Bootsie’s Allegro Identity totally floored me. I was blown away by the vivid stereo imaging, the wide soundstage, and the amazing level of detail without the bottom end ever losing punch. This is probably the best sounding Hungarian electronic music vinyl release yet, and a stand out sound engineering achievement even at an international level. I have a fairly decency vintage hifi system which mercilessly exposes shortcomings of poorly recorded, mixed or mastered records. Unfortunately, a lot of contemporary dance music sounds flat, dull or drained of any nuance or feeling if you can really hear what is on the record. This is why I usually listen to electronic music and hip hop on my DJ setup which adds a loud bounce by boosting the bass and highs is just more forgiving.
Still, Gabor's master really makes this record sing on my main audiophile system. I had to give it another spin as I couldn’t believe what I heard the first time around.
